11 Ways To Maximize Your Work From Home Routine

Have you ever wondered what is the best work from home routine? As someone working from home I created a routine for myself that I hope will help you on your journey to get more work done while working from home. It is very important to adhere to a schedule while working online because in most cases you are your own boss and manager. You have to hold yourself accountable and that requires a lot of self-discipline. Let’s look at some examples below that will help you work from home more effectively. 

Maximize The Morning Routine

Let’s start the day right. It is the most important part of the day that you have to handle in the proper way. Don’t hit the snooze button as that will make you even more tired. It’s crucial you don’t choose social media over workout or other creative task. 

Nutrition first routine

I always start my day with a cup of water filled with nutrition powder. It contains greens and other vitamins. My body gets the energy immediately after waking up so it can perform its best during the day. It is so important to start the day right with the nutrition that charges your body to have unlimited energy for the whole day. 

Working out routine

Probably the most important thing you should do every morning immediately after waking up and you don’t have to go crazy with the workouts. It can be something light like rope jumps or yoga. However, if you decide to go to the gym it’s even better. Once you get your body moving it will become accustomed to it and it will keep the pace even during the day. So make sure you get some sort of workout every single day.

Shower routine

Some would say just shower. I’d say, if you do that, use the cold water at least for a while. The chilling water will trigger your whole body to wake up and get ready for whatever is in front of it. So every morning make sure you take a cold shower for as long as you can handle it.

Coffee routine

Of course, I wouldn’t forget about the people that love their hot coffee in the morning. For some, it is as important as getting 8 hours of sleep every single day and they can’t function properly without that cup of coffee. I recommend getting one of the highest quality as that gives you the most energy for as long as possible. 

Working from home routine

Finally, we’re getting to the important part. It’s time to get some work done. I recommend setting a timer for 60 minutes or whatever time is suitable for you and maximize your work in that time. As humans, we can only focus at maximum capacity for a certain period of time. You simply can’t work 8 hours straight without losing focus. So find the time that suits you a stick to it. I’m even using sand timer to see the time passing by. That will trigger you to be more productive because you see the time passing by. So focus and get as much work done as possible. Break routine

The reason I set 60 minute working period is to have breaks right after it. I usually take around 20 minutes breaks and sometimes even get a power nap which recharges me and give me energy for the upcoming hour. It’s great as the bed is just steps away. Just don’t oversleep and set timer for 15 to 25 minutes, otherwise you might easily oversleep and the whole point of breaks is broken. It takes a lot of willpower but the rewards are very beneficial. 

And if you don’t want to sleep during your break then you can do some sort of exercise like jumps or push-ups. Having few breaks like this will put you to a great shape and you’ll stay on maximum capacity during the whole day. The importance of exercise should not be underestimated.

 Another way is to do any house chores like cleaning dishes or staring the laundry machine. Just remember you only have 20 minutes to do that. You just want to get your mind off work for that time. However, you have to get back to work so set a timer to make sure you’re back behind your desk after those 20 minutes. 

You can also take a walk outside which will get you the needed boost for another hour. If you got a dog it’s even better as you can use that time to take him out. Just few minutes outside will help you greatly and you’ll feel refreshed for another working task. You’ll also get the proper Vitamin D from the sun. 

Eating routine

Another important thing that we all need is food. Yet, many people spend too much time either preparing it or eating. It’s important to eat healthy but if you cook 3 times a day it will take a lot of time.

I’d recommend preparing the food in advance and at least for 2 or 3 days so you can save time and still eat healthy. Cook on your days off and refrigerate or freeze the remaining food that would you keep for your working days. Then simply reheat it during your break. It will save you a lot of time.

I also recommend not watching TV or YouTube while eating as that will just slow you down and eating one meal could take you forever. So just focus on eating and do other things later. 

Evening work from home routine

As important as starting the day is to finish it. The evening routine should help you relax and prepare for the next day ahead. I recommend having a healthy dinner and do whatever relaxes you.

Now it is important to be with your family or friends as that will get you off the working grind and you get different thoughts. At least get out for a few minutes as that will help you clear your mind. The most important thing you should do during evening is to prepare for another day.

It’s crucial to know what exactly are you going to do the next day. That’s when you can prepare and make sure you have everything ready so you know what you are going to do. It will push you out of the bed and you can immediately start doing what you have prepared for.

You don’t want to waste your precious time in the morning thinking about the things you are about to do. Remember that after 8 hours of sleep you feel the most energized and should jump into your most important task first thing in the morning. So know what to wear, eat and do the night before. Schedule it into the calendar so you know exactly what to expect.

I recommend app named Tick Tick, where you can simply create blocks of time and get notifications once the task is on. You can also set the Pomodo Timer which help you get more done in less time. 

Visualization routine

The importance of visualization is often overlooked as not important. However, once you work from home it is so important to visualize as you are now responsible for your day. There’s no boss or manager holding you back. So visualize the day ahead as vividly as you can.

Think about your upcoming day in as much detail as you can. It will help you to be the best you can possibly be. Visualize how you handle the day as best as you can. See every task in as much detail as possible so once you get to do it you just crush it. You should also have a vision board somewhere on the wall to see your lifetime goals before you go to bed. It will help you stay focused and wake up with ease.

Having work from home routine while working from home is very important. You should put as much focus into it as you put to work itself. Routine for every task you do during the day is very crucial if you want to succeed while working from home.
